DAVID CARR |

The club has learnt with deep regret
that David Carr, who played for us in the early
1990's, has died at the untimely age of just 48
after a battle with cancer.
Aylesham born David began his career
at Margate in 1972 at the age of 15. He signed for
Luton Town in January 1973 and played 43 times in
four years with them before joining Lincoln City in
1979. He made 199 appearances for Lincoln and scored
five times in his four year spell with them.
In August 1983 he joined Torquay Utd
playing 34 times for them before dropping into non -
league football with Maidstone, Folkestone and
Dover.
In July 1988 he joined Hythe Town as
their player / coach and then became player /
manager in November 1989.
he joined us from Hythe in 1990 for a
brief spell before ending his career back where he
started, Margate. He played his final game for them
in the 1992/93 season.
We send condolences to his family. |

PAST PLAYERS
|
|
Nick Ryan has written to us from Nottingham:
"Hello to everyone in Sittingbourne for whom I played
for a season in 1985/6 in the Kent League Division 1 at
the old Bull Ground and had a great time finishing third
behind Tunbridge Wells and Hythe and beating Chatham 4-0
in the FA Trophy.
The hing I'll always remember most, (apart from the
slope), was the warmth and friendliness of the
team, committee and supporters. It was a pleasure and a
privilege to wear the red and black."
Nick is now retired...See the ex Brickies section...LINK

WEB SITE THANKS
|
|
Now that the
season has come to an end I would like to register my
thanks to the following for making this the best and
most informative site in the division:
Chris Regan
for his excellent photographs that cannot be bettered
even in the national press! and for supplying me with
the weekly lottery results.
My Brother
John for helping me with reports when I'm unavailable
and for supplying information on the club.
My son Graham
for coming up with the idea for the site way back in
1996 and all the hard work he did in setting up the
original templates for the site.
Blueyonder,
Plus net and freenetname for the excellent and reliable
service that they give us in hosting the site.
To Tradequip
for paying to advertise on the site..(All of those
monies go straight to the club) and of course to all you
out there who find time to view the site and to buy from
the site via the shopping pages, again all monies from
the commission received for the purchases go straight to
the club.
Just because there are no more games this season doesn't
mean that you shouldn't keep looking at the web site,
(and doing your shopping on the site!!). We have plenty
of things planned for the close season the most exciting
being reproducing programmes of Sittingbourne, Bowater
Lloyds and Gillingham games of 1948 to 1959. These will
also be available to buy on DVD some time in the future.
These programmes will cover most Senior Kent clubs so
will be of interest to all of Kent's many non-league
fans. We are also looking into supplying DVD's of
Sittingbourne games from the past but this idea is at an
early stage.
I also hope
to revamp the look of the site..if I can find time! |

NEXT SEASONS ADMISSION PRICES |
|
The management committee
have decided that admission prices for the new season
will remain at £6.00 for adults and £3.00 for concessions.
There will however be a £1.00 extra charge if you wish

These
prices are probably the cheapest in our division as
most clubs have increased their admission to £7. (You'll
therefore have more money to spend in the bar and club
shop!).
Season
ticket prices also remain at last years prices.
